Velliangiri Hills

Of all the mountain shrines in Kongunadu, the Siva temple of Velliangiri in the western boundary is considered to be the most famous. Known as Rajathagiri, Velliangiri, Dakshin Kailash or Bhoolok Kailash, this sacred spot, according to legend, is where Siva performed his cosmic dance on the request of his consort Umadevi.





Airports in Tamil Nadu



The airport is the first among the Tamil Nadu Airports and also among the airports in India. The amount of cargo and air traffic that the airport handles has made it an integral part of Tamil Nadu Travel. The airport was also the final destination of Air India's first flight from Bombay via Belgaum in 1954.The first passenger terminal of the airport was built at the northeast side of the airfield, which lies in the suburb of Meenambakkam due to which it is also referred as the Meenambakkam Airport. The airport has a new terminal complex located to the south of Pallavaram while the old terminal is used as a cargo terminal for the courier companies.


The airport has three terminals, of which the old terminal at Meenambakkam is used for cargo and the new passenger terminal complex near Pallavaram is used for passenger operations. A new building has been constructed near the new terminal which houses the administrative offices and a restaurant.


The international terminal of the airport has two aero bridges followed by the domestic terminal with three aerobridges. At present, the new international block of the airport is used for departures while the older building is used for arrivals. The airport also has the distinction of being the first airport to have been certified with ISO 9001:2000 certification.Besides the Chennai International Airport the other Airports in Tamil Nadu are at Coimbatore, Trichy, Tuticorin and Madurai.



Flights to Chennai


Located in the region of Meenambakkam, around 7 km south of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the Chennai International Airport is one of the most important airports in India. It is also the leading international airport of Tamil Nadu, responsible for connecting the state to a number of International cities. The airport has two terminals, the Kamaraj Terminal and the Anna Terminal, which is responsible for the flights to various international destinations like London, Frankfurt, Dubai, Muscat and a number of others.





Flights to Madurai


Madurai is one of the most important cities of Tamil Nadu as well as a major tourist attraction of Tamil Nadu. Located around 13 kms away from the Madurai Railway Station, the Madurai Airport serves only domestic flights and can be accessed by a number of airlines including

Flights to Trichy

Located around 5 kms away from the main city, the city of Trichy or Tiruchirapalli as it is officially known, the Tiruchirapalli Airport serves both domestic as well as international flights to Tamil Nadu. Flights to Coimbatore Located around 13 kms away from Coimbatore in the region of Peelamedu, this is one of the most important airports of Tamil Nadu and is responsible for a number of flights to and from Tamil Nadu
